
I was standing over Meteor Crater in Northern Arizona recently and thinking about Aryo Toh Djojo’s work. There is something very galaxial about the landscape there, where the boundaries between us and the stars seems to blur into an almost seamless and endless potential of space and time, where space travel is possible and the connection between us and a solar system of gods is so near. And there is this haze on the horizon that creates this feeling of something else. And Aryo makes those moments in his paintings, a feeling of other and more and something in another universe that we can remember and think of the potential of.
